It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . .

The festive season is fast approaching and Santa's sleigh bells will soon be upon our rooftops. We switched on our Christmas lights on December 1, including a handful of additions from last time out. Be sure to visit whether it's delivering furniture, collecting furniture or even driving past.

Workshops become a popular destination this month, with a series appearing across shopping centres the world over. The workshop here remains open for business as usual, as it does all year, and the owner is also partial to a mince pie.

The countdown to Christmas is on and all of a sudden 2013 is coming to a close. The weather is beginning to turn and the nights are drawing in earlier following the end of Daylight Saving Time on Sunday 27 October.

The darker and colder evenings mean that we spend more time indoors, with the fire on and the latest drama on our television screens or on paper in the palm of our hands. The retreat into our homes, mirroring that of garden animals hibernating for the frostier months, result in us noticing small faults with our furniture or the need for new furniture altogether.

The festive period can be a hectic time for us all, but jostling with the crowds around the shops and battling with tinsel around the tree is all worth it in the end. November offers us the time to prepare for Christmas and ensure that the house is perfect for the arrival of Santa's sleigh bells on 25 December.
